Counselling tips
1. Tell the counsellor your thoughts and feelings as best as you can, to be better served.
2. Feel free to introduce new issues in the counselling session that arise as you go through therapy.
3. If you sense a need to take a pause or stop therapy, be at ease, you can communicate this.
4. If there is a topic you find difficult to talk about, let the counsellor know.
5. If in the past you tried counselling somewhere else and it left a bad experience, communicate to the counsellor your reservations concerning counselling, and how best you would like to be supported.
6. The sessions are designed to help you, therefore, no need to lie or speak half-truths, you will not be judged. There is no need to hold back, your voice is important. Your honesty will be respected.
7. If spirituality is an important part of your life, please communicate to the counsellor that you would like God or spiritual matters incorporated in the sessions.
